Fine baking in a grand venue

Sat 26 May, 9.30am to 4pm

The Mansion House is the official residence of the Lord Mayor of York and has been entertaining guests for over 300 years.  Spend the day experiencing what life was like above and below stairs at this beautifully grand house, whilst cooking and learning new skills in the kitchen.

Yorkshire has wonderful produce and a long tradition of baking and at this workshop we’ll celebrate this by making some favourite Yorkshire recipes, including Curd Tart and Beef and Masham Ale Pie. At the end of the day, you’ll have the lovely food you’ve made to take home and enjoy.

All ingredients - including containers to take your food home in and a disposable apron - will be provided, so you can relax and enjoy your cooking - all you need to bring is yourself!

Your day includes a tour of the house and lunch in the elegant Blue Room.

Note: The kitchen at the Mansion House has been a working kitchen for many years and reflects the different time periods it has lived through.  The Curator is keen to restore some of the kitchen’s features to their former character.  By attending this workshop, you will be contributing towards the funding of the restoration of the kitchen.
